No matter where we are in our careers, we all need mentors.
Digital Women Kansas City is proud to offer our Mentorship Program for free to all members of DWKC.
We have made some adjustments to the program including:
-
Everyone participating in the program is required to attend the Mentorship Match events – a fun, speed-dating style session where you’ll meet several participants and get to pick your top matches.
-
As matches depend on the number of available mentors, we’ll focus on matching mentees with mentors. We’ll only match mentees with each other if they specifically ask for it.
-
Throughout the program there are exclusive events just for the Mentorship participants. Events are held three of the four months of the program. We ask participants to attend at least two events to get the most out of the experience.
-
Signups will be accepted starting 1 month prior to session

FAQ
Q: How long is the program?
A: Each session is four months long. Participants will attend the Mentorship Match the month prior to the start of the session. The Fall session Mentorship Match is held in August and the program runs September – December. The Spring session Mentorship Match is held in January and the program runs February – May.
Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: The Mentorship program is free for mentors and mentees.
Q: How will I be matched with a mentor or mentee?
A: All participants are asked to attend the Mentorship Match event. At the event, you will get a chance to meet with all the program participants – both mentors and mentees. At the end of the event, you will select the three mentors you had the best connection with and who you would like as your mentor or mentee. This information will be used to finalize the pairs after the event. Matches will be introduced via email the week following the Mentorship Match event.
Q: How do I know if I should sign up as a mentor or a mentee?
A: Mentors in this program usually have 10–15+ years of experience in their field and feel ready to give back. Many have worked at multiple companies or started their own businesses and enjoy sharing real-world tips and advice with emerging professionals.
Mentees are typically college juniors or seniors, or early-career professionals in roughly the first 5–10 years of their career who are looking for guidance, feedback, and support as they grow.
Q: What are the exclusive events that are for the Mentorship participants?
A: During three out of the four months of the Mentorship program, an event is organized for all participants. The events are free and in person. Each event will feature a guest speaker sharing information on a topic relevant to career growth and the workplace. Participants are encouraged to attend the event with their match.
Q: What’s expected of me as a participant?
A: Participants are asked to meet with their match at least once a month for about an hour. The exact frequency and timing are up to each pair. Some might meet every other week for 30 minutes, while others might prefer a different schedule that works for both.
To get the most out of the experience, we also ask that everyone attend at least two of the in-person Mentorship Matchup events during the program. This helps build connections and keeps the momentum going.
"Every great achiever is inspired by a great mentor."
